Zimmermann Construction Staffing: Construction Personnel Rally Behind Staffing Agencies for Storm Relief

Due to the recent devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy,  many northern states like New York and Pennsylvania are relying on staffing agencies such as Zimmermann Construction Staffing to satisfy their immediate need for construction personnel. Many laborers, electricians, crane operators, ironworkers and pipefitters will be placed in temporary construction staffing roles to help clean up the mess that hurricane Sandy has brought on. These skilled tradesmen will be valuable assets on the construction jobs where recovery and repair are taking place.

An increasing number of contractors are utilizing staffing agencies to assist them in finding construction personnel for their construction jobs. It is estimated that over half of the people in New York were affected by Sandy’s destruction, but the recovery efforts of skilled tradesmen in the area gives hope to those affected that life will soon return to normal. These journeymen personnel who are working reconstruction jobs will soon return home, where Zimmermann will hopefully be able to extend them job offers for local staffing projects.

Staffing agencies, such as Zimmermann, that specialize in commercial and industrial staffing services are recruiting construction workers who are seeking per diem and are willing to travel to assist in with the relief effort and accommodate the contractors’ needs. Zimmermann Construction Staffing always takes into account job-specific details, which allows them to provide quality tradesmen on every order. This practice ensures that qualified placements are made each and every time, which means one less thing for the contractor to worry with. By doing all of the footwork like interviewing potential construction personnel and offering payroll services, Zimmermann Staffing is taking a lot of hassle out of recruiting temporary skilled tradesmen, allowing contractors to refocus their attention on winning additional jobs.

The aftermath of hurricane Sandy has flooded the construction staffing industry with work.  Zimmermann Construction Staffing is providing support for many construction contractors during this time by using their nationwide skilled tradesmen database to find qualified laborers, electricians, plumbers, millwrights, crane operators and more. Staffing agencies are becoming the popular option for providing skilled hands in storm cleanup and relief. Construction personnel everywhere are seeing a rise in the amount of construction jobs available and are sending their resumes to staffing companies like Zimmermann Staffing to become a part of this effort to provide storm relief.

Zimmermann Construction Staffing: Construction Staffing Firms And Craft Personnel Thriving From Gas Drilling

Now the industry lifeblood for many northeastern states, oil and natural gas deposits spanning West Virginia, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and beyond have breathed life back into an otherwise sluggish economy. Zimmermann Construction Staffing has answered the call for skilled tradesmen by reaching out to many of the construction personnel who they had employed recently for per diem jobs on the pipelines and infrastructure of North Dakota, to bring them back home to their east-coast families. Construction staffing companies such as Zimmermann Staffing share this view, as they are able to connect apprentice and journeymen construction personnel with the employers who once again need their skilled hands.

The construction staffing industry saw dips in construction activity by as much as 50 percent over the summer of 2012. Fortunately, half of those areas affected have recovered as a result of the oil and gas boom. After such a lull in construction and consequently a lull in communication with past employees, many contractors have turned to construction recruitment companies to outsource their construction personnel. Budget-friendly temporary construction labor and skilled labor staffing at a time like this, allows a contractor to refocus his or her time and energy into winning more of those valuable boom-sourced jobs.

Boom related contracts, by their very nature, are valuable–not just because of the burst of revenue they generate, but the growing presence that the contractor gets in the construction community. When contractors net a number of big boom contracts, word tends to get out and they tend to land even more work. Most have seen it firsthand–it’s the “the rich get richer” effect. Big players in the market have taken this ideal to heart and reached out to staffing companies to field construction personnel for a number of their projects.

With new jobs in the natural gas industry on the rise, the demand for employment of temporary staffing to field qualified journeymen, apprentice and labor hands in the quantities that are needed is also on the rise. Zimmermann Construction Staffing is no exception to the rule in that they are flooded with petro-related jobs not only in the Dakotas now, but in the eastern states as well. Zimmermann Staffing is bringing home many of their construction personnel–a number of electricians, ironworkers, pipefitters, pipe welders, crane operators and riggers are choosing to give up per diem positions for the chance to head east to work close to home and be with their families.

Industry Advancement: Zimmermann Construction Staffing Nears Launch of Construction Personnel Job Board

Zimmermann Construction Staffing is nearing the launch of a new job board that will connect construction personnel with contractors across the nation. Zimmermann has taken the phrase that has been used for years, “Get onboard with us,” and used it as a springboard for industry advancement. For years, competitors have used the “Post a free job now” ploy to get contractors to register on their websites and request a quote. Zimmermann’s job board will be just that–a job board.

Currently, many job-seekers are forced to turn to the well-known, unspecialized job boards. Introducing this niche job board will help skilled tradesmen to more readily connect to contractors; the job board will house construction job opportunities exclusively, and will be geared toward the full-spectrum of construction personnel in pursuit of employment. A smaller, more targeted job board offers a myriad of benefits, including: aggregation of all relevant listing resulting in more of a chance of speaking to a recruiter or hiring manager, a greater likelihood of your resume standing out to reviewers and even a sense of community.

For the staffing company, Zimmermann, it will mean faster turn-around on filling both skilled tradesmen and temp labor job orders. It will also mean higher quality candidate placements for contractors–as niche boards are known in the industry for attracting a certain caliber of applicant, the same caliber of skilled tradespeople that many contractors turn to local staffing companies for. Whether staffing of skilled tradesmen (or any other form of contractor staffing services for that matter), ultimately the goal is always the same–to make faster, better journeymen and apprentice placements for those seeking construction jobs.

Nationwide construction staffing meets nationwide construction job board: streamlined construction recruitment processes will aid Zimmermann Staffing in keeping contractors within their construction budget. Electricians, plumbers HVAC installers, boilermakers, pipefitters, millwrights and beyond will be able to browse a job board specifically tailored to aggregating all local job openings, Prevailing Wages and Davis-Bacon Wages positions, and in many cases per diem for both skilled tradesmen and their families in addition to general construction personnel.

Going Green: Zimmermann Construction Staffing Employs Eco-Friendly Construction Personnel Recruitment Practices

Zimmermann Construction Staffing is going green.  As one of the staffing agencies that specializes in staffing construction jobs, Zimmermann feels duty-bound to refine their day to day processes in an effort to make construction just a little more eco-friendly. The Zimmermann team says that “The list of things that we have done, are currently doing and are planning to do is fairly diverse.  Our efforts to go green have really influenced everything we do at the office.”

It goes without saying, telecommuting is a benefit to the environment. From the very first day, Zimmermann Staffing has believed in their exclusively phone based construction recruitment process.  Now years down the road, the more environmentally conscious Zimmermann reflects back on itself and acknowledges the positive impact this has had on the environment. Cori, one of the recruiters at Zimmermann, stated that “Now, even if a local tradesman walks into the office hoping to apply, we direct everyone to apply online, fax or email us their resume.  From there pretty much everything is done via the phone or through emails, and not only does it consistently work when it comes to successful placements but it’s green.”

Zimmermann also believes in providing electronic invoices, statements and quotes unless otherwise requested by a client. With dozens, or sometimes hundreds, of these routine business documents getting sent out every week, providing them to contractors electronically is not only cheaper for Zimmermann and resultantly the customer, but it reduces paper use tremendously.  In Zimmermann’s case, it allowed them to become an entirely paperless company.  In addition to this, the new Zimmermann offices provide its staff ample opportunity for energy conservation.  All offices, the break rooms and even the reception area at Zimmermann now make use of natural lighting with large windows lining all the walls. The recruiters and account managers, HR and payroll personnel draw the blinds and turn off power to all electronics upon leaving every afternoon, which further reduces waste on lighting, heating and cooling year round.

The marketing team suggested that, in the months to come, they intend to do a few small things to further distil certain marketing strategies so that they are just as eco-friendly as everything else. Beyond that, the entire team participates in small recycling efforts such as contributing empty soda cans to recycling bins, which are located in their break rooms. Zimmermann Staffing acknowledges that construction jobs can sometimes be dirty and less than friendly for the environment. However, in lieu of this construction staffing by Zimmermann is  a much cleaner and far more eco-friendly service today.

Construction Staffing and Safety Training

Working in the construction industry can sometimes be dangerous. Work-related accidents can cause serious injuries, but luckily most of these accidents are preventable. Zimmermann Construction Staffing does a number of things to ensure that its employees understand the safety rules and why they are so important. Zimmermann Construction Staffing provides both Local Staffing and Nationwide Construction Staffing in the forms of both labor staffing and skilled labor staffing; we promote our employees taking safety training courses specific to whichever trade our guys happen to be in, regardless of their location.

The first step to construction safety is pretty simple, remembering the clothing and personal protective equipment safety protocol. Clothing should fit snuggly to avoid the risk of becoming entangled in moving machinery or creating a tipping or stumbling hazard. Assuming the job doesn’t demand something more specific, Zimmermann Staffing, LLC typically recommends the following safety clothing: Thick-soled or steel toed work boots for protection against sharp objects such as nails, a hard hat to protect your head from falling debris, ear plugs to protect your ears from loud noises caused by heavy equipment and machines, and safety goggles to protect your eyes from airborne hazards such as very bright light, dust particles, flying shards or chemical splashes. Some of the Zimmermann guys even wear a safety vest so that they can be seen when in high traffic areas.

This is all important to maintain a safe working environment, because let’s face it jobsite fatalities aren’t good for anyone! If every construction worker adheres to these simple safety rules while they’re on-site there would be far fewer injuries. OSHA is doing a nationwide outreach campaign to raise awareness about the hazards of falls from ladders, scaffolds and roofs. Falls are the leading cause of death in construction, but here again almost all of these deaths are preventable as well. The first step is to plan ahead to get the job done safely. Begin by deciding how the job will be done, what tasks will be involved, and what safety equipment may be needed to complete each task. Next, make sure your employers have provided all necessary safety equipment for the job. And lastly, just be sure that both your employer and your fellow employees are all up to date with safety training.

Zimmermann Construction Staffing will always push the importance of onsite safety with all employees and will ensure all Zimmermann Staffing employers are also enforcing all things safety out in the field. So no matter how long you have been working in your trade or how familiar with typical hazards of the trade you may be, always take the time to follow proper safety protocol. Electricians double check those wires. Ironworkers, carpenters and roofers double check those ladders or scaffolds… and so on. Skilled tradesmen and general laborers alike: Always wear all of your equipment and be conscious of the safety guidelines so that no one gets injured.

Peak Season for Construction Jobs: Contractors and Construction Staffing Alike!

Zimmermann construction staffing has officially hit their busy season.  Zimmermann staffing started the season off hiring and placing a team of electrical helpers, apprentice electricians and journeymen electricians for a new construction project, building an apartment complex in Washington. The electrical helpers and apprentices assisted the journeymen with running conduit, bending pipe and pulling wire. The journeymen were responsible for wiring/installing fixtures, boxes, outlets, lighting, transformers, circuit breakers and other components.

After that the Zimmermann Staffing crew got back to work searching, networking, and finally found and hired a large crew of millwrights to work under a contractor who was working a Nevada gold mine shutdown. The Zimmermann Staffing millwright’s job consisted of disassembling and reassembling industrial equipment and machinery in all areas of the mine site.  Some would work in on-site chemical plants. Most of the Zimmermann staffing millwrights however, worked on the conveyer belts adjusting and resetting the chains.

Shortly after that, Zimmerman Construction Staffing focused recruiting efforts on general laborers who were urgently needed by a company overseeing the expansion of a highway in south Florida. Zimmermann Construction Staffing found and hired laborers who were a good fit for the job. Their job mainly consists of jobsite cleanup, using socket/adjustable wrenches and related tools and equipment. The laborers have to be willing to work as a team and understand the site safety standards. Zimmermann Construction Staffing is receiving requests for additional manpower on this project every few days. It’s always nice for us, as a Florida Staffing Agency, to be able to put Floridians to work.

In the next few weeks Zimmermann Construction Staffing will be starting the recruiting process all over in a new location. The next company that Zimmermann staffing is working with is a Plumbing Company in California. Zimmermann Staffing will be searching for the right apprentice and journeymen plumbers for this job. The journeymen will be performing layouts, installing piping and controls, plumbing and hydronic systems; PVC, copper, water pipe; threading steel pipes; valves, fittings and fixtures; testing pipe systems and fixtures for leaks. Apprentices will be assisting the journeymen with those tasks. The Zimmermann Staffing staff loves the recruiting process, however time consuming it may be at times–we know that when recruitment doesn’t allow for anything else to get done around the office, we’ll still leave go home with a sense of accomplishment. The Zimmermann staff is always prepared for anything; we love and embrace the rush of recruiting week and everything else that the staffing business throws at us.

Zimmermann Construction Staffing Expansion: Owners Overseas Exploring Options for New Construction Staffing Branch!

PANAMA CITY, FL, May 8, 2012 — The owners of Zimmermann Construction Staffing are currently overseas exploring options for an international branch office! Zimmermann founders say they see opportunity abroad; with their U.S. based office experiencing unprecedented service demands in spite of economic conditions, their interest in prospective expansion has taken the front seat.  They stated that the new office will offer many of the same services as their current one; namely permanent and temporary construction staffing solutions for contractors seeking skilled tradesmen and general laborers. They went on to say that “Nationwide construction staffing is just what we do! All things permitting, we intend to serve an area similar in size to the one back home!” The duo have their eyes set on a number of locations throughout Europe, to include: United Kingdom, France, The Netherlands and Germany.

Their first destination is Southampton, on the southern tip of the United Kingdom. The UK has the second largest European economy but has been in a state of floundering, similar to the United States, for some time. Economic figures from recent months however, report industrial and manufacturing production in the UK to have risen 2% and 2.3% respectively. Should they choose to provide construction labor solutions from Southampton, Zimmermann Staffing owners believe their experiences in the U.S. will have prepared them for construction staffing in the UK.

From there, they head to the mainland to explore one of the larger commercial hubs in Europe. Amsterdam, The Netherlands’ capital, is an industrious port city focused on chemical, shipping and electronics. Not only is the Amsterdam economy attractive to Zimmermann, but with their objective to provide labor staffing and skilled labor staffing to a large region–a centralized location like this would allow them to offer staffing solutions to most of north-east Europe.

Exploring all options, they next depart for Yvetot and Paris, France. With the third largest European economy, France’s leading industrial sectors parallel those of Zimmermann’s.  Focused on areas such as telecommunications, ship building, construction and civil engineering sets a prospective French branch of Zimmermann up for success from the beginning. Proficiency in temporary staffing and permanent staffing for all manner of construction personnel would allow Zimmermann Staffing to capitalize on the diverse French economy.

Their study of Europe is slated to end in Heidelberg, Germany. A country that made a name for itself, seemingly, alongside the inception of industry itself is one that requires little explanation as to why Zimmermann considers it suitable to call home. In the months following their return, the owners intend to make their decision and begin introducing Europe to what construction staffing by Zimmermann is all about!

Construction Staffing Projects & Personnel: MSHA Certified Millwrights for Gold Mine!

It is still undetermined exactly when people first began mining gold, however the oldest gold artifacts were found in Varna, Necropolis in Bulgaria. The graves of the Necropolis were built between 4700 and 4200 B.C.E. This indicates that gold mining could be 7000 years old! Even the Romans used hydraulic mining methods, such as hushing and ground sluicing on a large scale to extract gold from extensive alluvial deposits, such as those at Las Medulas. In its infancy, mines were under the control of the state, but they eventually utilized construction staffing to obtain civilian contractors. Under the Eastern Roman Empire Emperor Justinian’s rule, gold was mined in Balkans, Anatolia, Armenia, Eqypt and Nubia. Gold was first found in the area of the Kolar Gold Fields (KGF) in Bangarpet Taluk of Kolar District of Karnataka state, India, prior to the 2nd and 3rd century C.E. by the digging of small pits. Over time, these practices have evolved into the mining processes we know today.

Zimmermann Construction Staffing recently sent out a team of skilled tradesmen, Apprentice Millwrights and Journeymen Millwrights, who have been working in a Nevada gold mine. We recruited and networked, interviewed and hired 16 Millwrights who were perfect for the job. Before they could start they had to get MSHA part 48 training, which is a 24hr class broken up over two or three days. MSHA, overseen by the Mine Safety and Health Administration, is responsible for protecting miners’ safety and health by educating and regulating who can become a miner. The class that the Zimmermann Millwrights enrolled in was to cover MSHA Part 48.b, which covers everything related to above ground mining and metal mines. One of the MSHA requirements is that the miners, or mine-bound Millwrights as the case may be, is that they take an onsite tour to learn the site specific hazards.

The construction staffing order required Zimmermann to provide millwrights skilled in disassembling and reassembling industrial equipment and machinery in all areas of the mine site. I interviewed one of Zimmermann Staffing Millwrights to have him walk me through his typical day on the job. The 16 millwrights started their day by meeting at the office at 5:00am. From there, our crew of MSHA Certified Millwrights loaded into two vans and drove to the mine, which was almost an hour away. When getting to the mine site they would have to attend a one hour long Hazards Meeting where they would receive their assignments for the day. Some would work in one of the many chemical plants on site. Most of the Zimmermann Millwrights however, worked on the conveyer belts, adjusting and resetting the chains.

My interviewee went on to say that anything could happen out there, coming back from lunch to find a huge crane now towering over the spot he was just in. They would have to fill out FLRA forms, which is a form the Millwrights were required to fill out any time their work spaces changed, at any time or in any way. He said that they all seemed to learn a lot by getting placed on this job; going on to say that a handful of them even decided to pursue other certifications and training programs such as OSHA, to make them eligible for more Zimmermann Construction Staffing jobs!

Recent Construction Staffing Interests: The Pentagon, Fort Sam Houston and More

Zimmermann Construction Staffing has recently been approached
about high-profile constructions jobs at The Pentagon, Fort Sam Houston and
Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. On-site contractors requested
both general labor staffing and skilled labor staffing to satisfy their
permanent and temporary construction staffing needs. Davis Bacon Wages and
stringent requirements for skilled journeymen to step foot on-site push the
Zimmermann team to begin doing what they do best… Nationwide Construction
Staffing.

When a contractor has the opportunity for ongoing work, their top priority is
keeping the client satisfied. When that promise is from The Pentagon, it’s all
the more true. After figuring up construction budgets, the last thing
contractors should do is spend days or weeks exploring construction staffing
solutions: construction recruitment, qualifying and interviewing candidates,
facilitating drug testing and background checks, and processing paperwork. In
this instance, Zimmermann Construction Staffing was approached to be the
employment agency responsible for general labor staffing, payrolling and
insuring.

Alternatively a plumbing contractor was recently awarded a multi-phase, six
month project at Fort Sam Houston; a job requiring ten plus Texas Licensed
Plumbers at times, and the promise of dynamic labor staffing needs–the promise
of turnover and headache. Foreseeing the paperwork nightmare of the months to
come, the project manager and office manager enlisted the services of
Zimmermann Staffing to assist them with their construction staffing needs. With
nothing but prevailing wages and a tentative six months of work to attract the
plumbers, Zimmermann began recruiting plumbers from their skilled tradesmen
database. Zimmermann expectantly prequalified backup plumbers, mindful of the
expected lulls in manpower needs throughout the project.

Walter Reed Medical Center contracted out work for upkeep and improvements to
the property. The job offered prevailing wages, strict requirements and a
long-term need for reliable labor. Zimmermann Construction Staffing was asked
to act as payroll liaison and recruiter–most importantly, they were asked to
step out of the picture once the undesirable part of the job was done!
Zimmermann Staffing offers early buyout options, which add utility and
workability, to an already attractive construction staffing service. After
all… once Zimmermann’s found the right guy for the job, the job is done!

Considering the spring Zimmermann Construction Staffing had, they look to the
horizon expecting another year of steady growth and improvement. The Zimmermann
Staffing team recognize and appreciate both their clientele who–by
choice–turn to them exclusively with their staffing needs, and the quality
tradesmen and laborers who make it possible for them to provide consistently
top-notch construction staffing each and every time.
